Turning everyday hygiene services into meaningful environmental impact
At Citron Hygiene, sustainability is not an add on. It is part of how we think about hygiene, dignity, and long term responsibility. That belief led to the launch of our Green Impact Program, designed to connect essential hygiene services with measurable climate action. As our business grows, so does our commitment to protecting the environment and the communities we serve.
For every customer with a new disposal unit placed, Citron Hygiene donates $5 to support the planting of one tree in Canada. This ensures environmental impact is built directly into our everyday operations, not treated as an afterthought.
Why Trees Matter
Trees are one of the most effective natural tools we have to help address climate change. On average, a single mature tree can absorb approximately 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year, depending on species and growing conditions. When tree planting is done responsibly and at scale, the benefits grow year after year.
Through our Tree Donation Program, a minimum $5,000 contribution supports the planting of 2,000 trees in Canada. Together, these trees can offset an estimated 96,000 pounds of carbon annually, contributing to cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and stronger communities.
This planting is delivered in partnership with Tree Canada, a nationally respected nonprofit dedicated to planting and nurturing trees across urban, rural, and Indigenous communities in Canada.
How Customers Are Part of the Program
Customers take part in Citron Hygiene’s Tree Donation Program simply by working with us. Every new disposal unit placed, whether for a new customer or as part of an expanded hygiene program, helps support the planting of a tree in Canada. As customers grow their hygiene services, their environmental impact grows alongside them. No additional steps or actions are required.
Linking Hygiene, Waste, and Environmental Responsibility
As a hygiene services provider, Citron Hygiene is closely connected to conversations about waste reduction and responsible disposal. This includes menstrual waste, which is essential to dignity and health but contributes significantly to landfill volume.
Disposable menstrual products contribute significantly to landfill waste. Billions of menstrual products are used each year, and more than 80% of menstrual products in North America and Europe are estimated to end up in landfills, where plastic components can take hundreds of years to break down.
